A little morbid for my taste...

However, I like the way it came out.

Portraits

Still Life

First Experiments with Photography

I recently was gifted a Nikon d40, a camera that I've been pining after for a while. I won't pretend to be a photographer, I won't pretend to know what I'm doing. I've been messing with the settings and attempting to find things to take pictures of. I've done some film stuff with my mom's old Minolta, but I'm working on finding the time to develop it (and learning how to develop film in general). Yup, I'm a total amateur at photography, I know it. I only learned what aperture and shutterspeed are today, in fact. But I've enjoyed it, and there's a few photographs in particular that I'm rather proud of, even if they pale in comparison to the work of more experienced artists. I did two portraits and a still life, and I'm going to upload them in just a minute. And then... I'll probably work on calculus. Integrals, fun stuff!

Organized Mess - Finished!

I added some unplanned acrylic paint with a touch of watercolors. I'm ecstatic with the way it came out, I think it's my favorite portfolio piece so far. It's kind of messy looking, but I like that.

Business Card Assignment

Part of a design career is business & advertising - you need to be able to get yourself out there. This is why my art teacher gave us a homework assignment that involved making our own business cards. I'm not actually a designer/illustrator in the career sense, nor am I planning to be one, but I felt that title would be most appropriate. Didn't take long. About 20 minutes in paint tool sai. Great program.

Song of Solomon

We're reading this book in English, and I don't like that class; it's really boring. Certain aspects of the book disturb me. I'm usually an avid reader, but this book really creeps me out. I'm not usually creeped out, either. I read this book called Choke about a sex addict and everyone in the book had some kind of problem. It was interesting, though. The Song of Solomon doesn't catch my attention, and it's weird, but not to the point of being interesting. Therefore, during my class, I will be illustrating the first page of each chapter for every day we spend reading it. This is the first.

There is a theme of flight. Some guy jumps off of a building and dies.

Suicide. Yay.

Project Ourway Logo/T-shirt Design

Random Graphic Design - Marker Work

I love sharpies.

IDEA Logo

A logo I had to do for a club at school, to appear on posters, merchandise, etc. IDEA is an acronym, and the club's full name is Intensifying Dwight-Englewood Arts.
